Comprehensive Cancer Centers, a multi-specialty practice that has been providing oncology services at several cancer centers and offices in Southern Nevada for more than 40 years, announced Andrew M. Cohen, MD as practice president.
Dr. Cohen is a radiation oncologist. He joined Nevada Radiation Oncology Centers in 1997, which later became Comprehensive Cancer Centers in 2002. He is the first physician certified to use CyberKnife® for Stereotactic Radiosurgery and Stereotactic Body Radiation therapy in Southern Nevada. He is also the first physician in the state of Nevada to use and certified in the use of SpaceOAR, an injected hydrogel for rectal protection in the treatment of prostate cancer with radiosurgery, brachytherapy or Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT).
He is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor at the UNLV School of Medicine and was previously an Adjunct Assistant Professor Oncology/Radiation at Touro University Nevada College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Dr. Cohen attended Brandeis University in Waltham, MA for his undergraduate studies and graduated with departmental honors in chemistry. He received his medical degree from the State University of New York, Upstate Medical University in 1988. He completed his internship in 1989 at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. He completed his residency in radiation oncology at the University of Miami where he was Chief Resident.
