Green Our Planet Earns $3,000,000 in Funding from Christmas Tree Bill
Green Our Planet, a Las Vegas-based nonprofit that runs the largest school garden program in the United States, announced it will receive $3,000,000 in funds following Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo's approval of Senate Bill 341.
Through this funding, Green Our Planet will provide school garden program and hydroponic laboratories to all Title I Schools across the state, reaching 500 Nevada schools and over 300,000 students by 2025. Students will learn about STEM, nutrition, conservation, and entrepreneurship skills through hands-on experiences.
Senate Bill 341 and Assembly Bill 525 are known as the "Christmas Tree Bills", which will award $110,000,000 to over 70 non-profits and government agencies that provide education, health care and other community services across Nevada.
Earlier this year, Green Our Planet hosted the largest student-run farmers market in the nation at Downtown Summerlin. In addition, it announced the expansion of the hydroponics program at public libraries in partnership with the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District.
