Las Vegas, NV – Three Square Food Bank can distribute an additional 42,000 meals to Southern Nevadans experiencing food insecurity, thanks to a collaboration between MGM Resorts International (MGM Resorts) and Nevada Public Radio.

During Nevada Public Radio’s 2022 Fall Membership Campaign, members had the option to donate meals to Three Square in lieu of receiving traditional thank you gifts when they made their pledge of support, with MGM Resorts wholly covering the value of the 42,000 meals. Three Square is Southern Nevada’s only food bank, providing food assistance to the residents of Lincoln, Nye, Esmeralda and Clark counties.

“At MGM Resorts, investment in the communities in which we live and work is a pivotal part of our business philosophy,” said Maria Jose Gatti, Executive Director of Philanthropy at MGM Resorts. “With hunger relief as one of our community engagement priorities, we are happy to be a part of this incredible effort to provide meals to our neighbors experiencing food insecurity.”

“Nevada Public Radio is proud of our partnership with Three Square and MGM Resorts International to continue to provide meals for hungry families in Southern Nevada,” said Mark Vogelzang, President and CEO of Nevada Public Radio. “Thanks to our members who year-after-year choose to designate meals to Three Square. This collaboration has been one of our most rewarding endeavors.”

“MGM Resorts and Nevada Public Radio first joined forces during the Fall Membership Campaign in 2019 and have been tremendous partners in the fight against hunger ever since,” said Three Square Food Bank Interim President and CEO Michelle Beck. “Over the course of the four-year collaboration, Three Square has been able to provide more than 237,000 meals to neighbors in need.”

Feeding America’s 2022 Map the Meal Gap study revealed food insecurity in Southern Nevada remains above pre-pandemic levels. More than 341,000 community members, or one in seven, struggle with hunger and one in four children live in a food-insecure household.
