Smith’s Food & Drug has opened a new $24 million, 125,000-square-foot Smith’s Marketplace store at Cadence Village Center located at 845 E. Lake Mead Pkwy in Henderson. This is the second marketplace store in Nevada and will add 230 new jobs to the area.
Smith’s dine-in food fare serves Starbucks® coffee, a Murray’s Cheese shop, fresh sushi, and a full-service bakery; ready-to-eat salads; grab-and-go meals provided by Pizza Romana; and Boar’s Head Sandwiches. In addition, the store features a one-lane drive through pharmacy and an on-site Smith’s Fuel Center offering zero-ethanol gasoline, great for boats, trucks, RVs, ATVs and more.
“We are excited to open the doors of our second Smith’s Marketplace in Southern Nevada,” said Aubriana Martindale, Smith’s Corporate Affairs Manager. “Our marketplace stores serve as a one-stop-shop for all of our customers needs and we committed to providing our Henderson customers a full, fresh and friendly shopping experience.”
Customers will have the opportunity to order from more than 40,000 items online or through the Smith’s app for curbside pickup or select same-day home delivery.
As part of the company’s bold Zero Hunger | Zero Waste initiative, Smith’s has implemented energy reducing technology through heating, cooling, water, and lighting. Freezers and coolers are lit with more efficient LED lights. Smith’s diverts waste from landfills by reducing packaging design, recycling plastic, or donating safe, perishable foods to Three Square Food Bank. During construction, Smith’s required the builder to recycle 90% of the project’s total non-hazardous waste such as scrap wood, metal, cardboard, concrete brick, and plastic.
To celebrate the grand opening of the Marketplace and continue their commitment to Zero Hunger | Zero Waste, Smith’s will donate to local hunger relief programs in the Henderson community including $9,000 to Boys & Girls Club of Southern Nevada and $5,000 to Communities in Schools of Nevada. In 2021, Smith’s donated 1.2 million meals to Three Square Food Bank and their new Marketplace will add to those efforts through their food rescue program. Additionally, Smith’s will donate $2,000 to neighboring Basic High School.
