St. Jude’s Ranch for Children, a charity that has been providing a safe, nurturing home with therapeutic residential treatment services to thousands of abused and neglected children in Nevada for over 50 years, broke ground on its Healing Center campus in Boulder City for children who are victims of sex trafficking.
The construction team includes Grand Canyon Development Partners, EV&A Architects, Taney Engineering, and The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company.
The Healing Center will sit on 10 acres with a series of one-story individual therapeutic homes with walking paths and extensive landscaping, designed to foster a sense of safety. Therapy offices and outside areas will encourage transformation through connection to nature, while additional plans call for a multi-purpose building to include an on-site school, meeting space, library, computer lab, and a yoga and meditation room.
Construction is expected to be completed by Spring of 2024 and the center is expected to be open for residents by Summer 2024.
Special guests at the groundbreaking ceremony included Governor Steve Sisolak, U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto, Congresswoman Dina Titus, Congressman Steven Horsford, County Commissioner Jim Gibson and Justin Jones, Superintendent Dr. Jesus Jara, Boulder City Mayor Kiernan McManus, and Sheriff-Elect Kevin McMahill.
