The Rogers Foundation is hosting a Facebook Live ceremony on April 26th, Tuesday at 7pm to award a record amount of $2.8 million, the largest amount in the Foundation’s history, to 36 local high school seniors in Southern Nevada.
Rogers Achievers Scholarships, ranging from $20,000 to $100,000, are valid toward educational costs at any college or university in the United States. Scholarships are awarded annually with rolling application submissions accepted in the fall/winter.
Additionally, The Rogers Foundation is giving out a number of full-ride scholarships to Kentucky Wesleyan College, an institution many of Jim Rogers' family members attended which also features one of the top arts programs in the area.
The Rogers Foundation's mission is to transform the lives of children and young adults through art and education. To date, the foundation has given more than $89 million dollars to children and programs that support them.
The Foundation is building The Beverly Theater in Downtown Las Vegas. The two-story, 14,306 square-foot film house and performance theater will feature three distinct areas including the main theater, terrace, and courtyard. Additionally, The Beverly Theater will have an on-site box office, retail/concession space, fully loaded green room, catering kitchen, and educational workspaces.
The main theater will feature raked seating of just over 150 seats resting on a retractable platform that can allow for expanded standing room capacity and convert the venue into a multi-purpose black box theater. The architectural firm on this project is Carpenter Sellers Del Gatto Architects. General contractor is Whiting-Turner Contracting Company. And Grand Canyon Development Partners is managing the construction process on behalf of the Foundation.
