Nevada Governor Sisolak Signs Executive Order Strengthening Abortion Protections

On June 28th, Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak signed an executive order to protect those who are seeking access to abortion in Nevada. The right to abortion is codified by Nevada law. Nevada Revised Statute section 442.250 protects the right to abortion until 24 weeks and after 24 weeks if the pregnant person’s health is at risk and that law cannot be repealed without a direct vote by the people.

Jennifer Shydler, a Merrill Lynch Wealth Management Financial Advisor based in Las Vegas, was recently named to the 2022 Forbes “Best-in-State Women Wealth Advisors” list. She was also named on the 2020 and 2021 lists.

Jennifer is a 5th generation Las Vegan and earned her B.S. in Finance from San Diego State University. She was also recognized with one of Merrill’s most esteemed honors in 2019, the David Brady Award.

Lithium-Powered: How An Emerging Industry with Nevada Ties Could Boost Energy Independence - UNLV

UNLV recently published a report on the lithium battery industry and how it can help diversify Nevada's economy. Nevada has made major strides in transportation electrification. In 2021, Governor Sisolak signed into law clean energy legislation to expand electric vehicle charging infrastructure, invest in energy efficiency programs, and strengthen the state’s transmission grid. This year, Nevada joined a multi-state agreement to accelerate the electrification of medium and heavy-duty vehicles by 2050.

Nevada Approves Millions in Federal Funds for School Meals, Education, Healthcare and More

On June 21st, Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak announced the Interim Finance Committee has approved another set of work programs using the federal American Rescue Plans funds including $75 million for free meals for public school students in the next academic year, $200 million for the Nevada Department of Education for public school districts programs, $20 million to fund Nevada’s Crisis Stabilization Centers and more.
