LAS VEGAS, NV – United Way of Southern Nevada (UWSN) received $1,000,000 in government funding assistance to further establish their Unidos Por Nevada Language Access Plan. This financial assistance will help in assisting the non-English proficient community of Nevada with proper resources, financial support, and informational assets across the greater Southern Nevada community.
“Language access is a tremendous need within our community,” says Julian High, President and CEO of United Way of Southern Nevada. “United Way of Southern Nevada is so grateful for the support of Congresswoman Dina Titus and her team for our Unidos Por Nevada program. We look forward to continuing to provide resources within our Language Access Plan.”
Unidos Por Nevada looks to guarantee support and resources across the valley to help with educational purposes and economic resources. United Way of Southern Nevada will use this opportunity to encourage the community to learn more about the resources available.
“My constituents in underserved parts of Southern Nevada deserve access to financial support and other resources no matter what language they speak. This funding will help non-English proficient communities overcome barriers to that access by supporting a network of culturally specific organizations to provide resources for everyone in District One,” said Congresswoman Titus.
Coinciding with Global Language Advocacy Day on February 22, United Way of Southern Nevada embraces the importance of language rights, seeing the growing desire for a program such as Language Access Plan, and looks to use this funding to secure resource opportunities for the future of Unidos Por Nevada.
