City Approves New West Las Vegas Library
City of Las Vegas City Council approved a Land Use Entitlement project request for a new two-story, 40,430-square foot library on the westside of Martin Luther King Boulevard near Mount Mariah Drive.
Located on 5.25 acres, the project is designed by KME Architects and is anticipated to reach a minimum Silver LEED certification.
City of North Las Vegas Names Rebecca Gipson Assistant City Manager
City of North Las Vegas recently announced the promotion of Rebecca Gipson to Assistant City Manager. Gipson first joined the City in 2017 as Senior Executive Assistant to the City Manager after a 20-year career with the Clark County School District (CCSD).

According to the American Gaming Association, more than half of American adults (57%, 146 million) live where sports betting is legal. And by one estimate, more than 100 million legal online sports bets were placed over Super Bowl weekend, a record total.
Sports betting is now legal in 33 states and the District of Columbia, and 163 congressional districts have casinos operating in them.
Downtown Vegas Alliance Announces Free Business Incubation Program for Minority-Owned Small Businesses
The Downtown Vegas Alliance (DVA) in partnership with the Urban Chamber of Commerce, Latin Chamber of Commerce, Prestamos CDFI, LLC and Niche Marketing is pleased to announce a new, no-cost small business incubation program to help minority-owned small businesses in the City of Las Vegas.
State Small Business Credit Initiative Microloan Program Receives $5.3 Million In Financing
State Small Business Credit Initiative presented at the Nevada Community Development Investment and Lending Forum this month about the Battle Born Growth Microloan program, which provides loans, up to $250k, to small businesses across Nevada.
The program will receive $5.3 million for the first three-year tranche and nearly $16 million in total, works to support small businesses from traditionally underserved communities. It partners with mission-driven lenders such as CDFIs. An economic impact analysis conducted by the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR) estimates a total financial impact of $180 million for this 10-year $16 million program.

Three Square Food Bank announced the dates for the highly anticipated Las Vegas Restaurant Week this summer – June 5-16, 2023. A fixed portion of the meal’s cost will directly support Three Square and the one in seven Southern Nevadans who are food insecure.
